Snowride!; Meikle Says Law loop...

Last Thursday and Friday at work i looked North across to snow on the hills of Fife...

West to the Pentlands at Edinburgh cloaked in white...

And South to our local Lammermuir Hills- caked in snow!, and hoped it would lie until Saturday...

A clear cold Friday evening seen a hard frost and Saturday dawned clear as fore casted...

Francis and the dogs (another foster Spaniel staying until re-homed) headed up Redstone Rig with the Pugsleys on the car and parked up we headed for Meikle Says Law...

I rode my Pugsley around this loop up to Meikle Says Law,  and made a film-very shakey footage, so it was fitting to return and re ride the old Pugsley up here again, well Francis rode the old Pug!

Back to today and same bike rolled down past Fasney Cottage...

Fasney Cottage, Now a  Shooting Lodge

Mowgli was full of beans out in the snow!...

We rode a counter clockwise loop up to the Trig point...

The snow condition was not ideal and although only a few inches deep was very draggy and took a bit effort...

We walked a couple of sections on the climb, ice underneath was frozen solid and supported our weight as we climbed higher...

Then enjoyed some of the short descents as the track forded the burn...

Clouding over...

Mowgli was starting to collect snow balls on his coat!...

Final last push up onto wind swept frozen ground and back up into the bitter cold westerly wind...

Meikle Says Law Trig Point, highest in the Lammermuirs at 535 feet... Francis was glad to be at the top!..

So was Mowgli!. Anna the other dog was always ahead and seemed to have avoided the camera so far...

Spectacular view from the roof of the Lammermuirs... NW across to Lammer law...

SE across the hills...

SE across the plain of East Lothian, Traprain Law, North Berwick Law, and the Bass Rock out in the Forth Estuary...

Time for a coffee...

Then the descent down to Little Says Law to rejoin a shooting track back to the car...

Usually a wet soggy track follows the county fence line with Berwickshire County. Frozen solid it was ride able where windswept of snow...

Then in places a hard grind through the snow...

Then once further down we were reduced to pushing through the snow which was spongy sitting on top of the Heather...

Mowgli had a huge collection of snow balls on his coat now!, but it did not slow him down much!...

Having a breather during the hike-a-bike section...

Across here we pushed looking for the track...

Mountain Hare, coat now white hidden in the snow, the dogs never seen him...

Finally the track!....

Francis removed a lot of the snow from the dogs...

Here is Anna the foster Spaniel!...

We rode a bit, pushed a bit down hill through the drifts with the tail wind a bonus...

Until onto the surfaced track...

Both happy to be rolling down this!...

Mowgli is always rolling in the snow!...

Past Fasney Cottage...

And up to the car, good to get out in snow again!, though need better conditions for riding to do a 6 mile ride like this, but cannot complain with the weather and views as a reward for the effort...

After 6 miles in the snow 2 tired dogs this evening...

More soon...
